When she’s not testing out riffs of the Whiskey Sour, writing about her latest ALDI find or closing a Tedx conference, she’s usually cooking for or with her husband, their 13-year-old son and his entire gymnastics team. Her dog, Lyra, also likes to think she’s worthy of being cooked for, even if it’s only peanut butter toast snatched from the table.
Best Cooking Advice: "Cooking for humans is better than cooking for dogs. As a child, I wanted to be a cookbook author when I grew up. But not just any cookbook author - I was going to write cookbooks for dogs, as most of my cooking experience revolved around our family dog, Sandy. And by cooking, I mean I was heating up canned dog food on the stove and adding spices (my mom was really tolerant, as I later learned the aroma wasn't so appetizing). I have since discovered that it's a lot more fun cooking for humans than canines, but don't tell my dog, Lyra, who thinks my dehydrated dog treats are worthy of a bestseller."
