Frequently Asked Questions

How Do I Print Something Out?

There are three ways to print recipes on SimplyRecipes.com: 1. by clicking on the printer icon (grouped with the Facebook, Pinterest, and email icons), 2. by clicking on the “PRINT” button, or 3. by using browser printing.

We recommend options 1 and 2, as both are printer-friendly and usually ranging between 1 and 3 pages, depending on the length of the recipe. Option 3 still prints the recipe without photos and ads, however, it tends to use more paper.

Option 1 (the printing icon) is located differently depending on the device you are using:

  • Computer: At the top of the page on the left of the recipe title and author name. Click the printer icon (the last icon) to print.
  • Phone: Scroll down to the middle of the page at the end of the introductory copy. All the icons are located above the recipe box. Click the printer icon on the far right to print.
  • Tablet: All the icons are located at the top of the screen, right above the recipe name. Click the printer icon on the far right to print.

Option 2 is always located in the recipe box, next to the “SAVE IT” button. If you can’t see the print button, try reducing the scale on your screen.

Option 3 is located differently depending on your browser.

  • Chrome: Click File at the top left of your screen or the three dots, usually located in the top right corner of your browser. Then click print and follow the instructions on the printing pop-up.
  • Safari: Click the share icon located at the bottom of your browser or File at the top right-hand corner. Then click print and follow the instructions on the printing pop-up.

Where Are the Photos in My Print-Out?

To keep our onsite options printer-friendly, no photos are printed. If you love perusing through our photos as much as we do or require visual aids, we highly recommend accessing the recipe online.

Why Can’t I Print Some of the Articles?

The onsite printing option is currently limited to our longform recipes. News articles, some shorter recipes, and educational posts do not support this feature at this time.

You are welcome to use your browser’s printing feature. Please note that browser printing will print out multiple pages unless you indicate otherwise in your browser printer settings.

How is Recipe Nutrition Calculated?

Dotdash Meredith food brands use a database called Nutritionix to structure recipe nutrition. The Nutritionix database is a complex and intricate system that pulls nutrition information from resources including their in-house team of nutrition experts, food and grocery brands, and popular chain restaurants. The database is ever-growing, and as such, information gaps may occur.

As Simply Recipes staff, we do our due diligence to research and thoroughly approximate recipe nutrition. This includes cross-referencing nutrition information with similar foods and finding accurate alternatives for ingredients currently not included in the Nutritionix system.

However, our current system is not perfect. We advise readers to use the provided information as an estimate. We encourage you to connect with us at contact@simplyrecipes.com if you have any questions.

Why Don’t Some Recipes Have Nutrition Information?

Nutrition information is currently only available for our longform recipes. If you are interested in calculating a recipe’s nutritional value, we recommend online nutrition calculators, such as Verywell Fit or WebMD’s Food Calculator

The Calorie Count Seems Really Off. What Gives?

If you feel the nutrition is off for any recipe, reach out to contact@simplyrecipes.com. Our team strives to provide close-to-accurate nutritional information, however, sometimes errors occur. Let us know if you spot any outlying calculations.

Why Has My Favorite Recipe Changed?

We are consistently updating our recipes for an improved reader and home cook experience. You may notice changes in the form of copy edits, recipe edits, photo edits, or we may even redirect to a new and improved recipe altogether.

Updates are often a result of reader feedback, prompting us to reassess and conduct additional in-house testing. If you experience difficulties with a recipe, let us know in the comments section or at contact@simplyrecipes.com and we’ll help you troubleshoot and take note of issues for future updates.
