Experience
Emma has over 15 years of experience creating food and cooking content for both web and print and another 5 years within the print publishing industry. She still remembers what it felt like to be a new cook fumbling around the kitchen. This is what has driven both her career and her passion for empowering home cooks with dependable recipes, practical cooking know-how, and a love for good food.
She joined the Simply Recipes team in 2016 as Managing Editor. She is the former Recipe Editor for Kitchn. In her career, she has been an editor, a writer, a recipe developer, a photographer, and a video producer.
Emma is the author of three books on home-brewing: True Brews, Brew Better Beer, and Modern Cider, and collaborated on the James Beard award-winning The Kitchn Cookbook. Her recipes and writing have been published in Kitchn, Fine Cooking, Chicago Tribune, and elsewhere.
Emma's favorite cooking tool: A "cobbler spoon" from her mother. "I've never seen this long-handled spade-like utensil outside her kitchen, but I grew up watching her use one for everything from stir-fries to, yes, serving cobbler. I will never part with the one she gave me, and I think of her every time I use it."
